Garden 2

41 Cowleaze

A wildlife haven in a mid sized garden

A medium sized garden which wraps around the house and is very much, a work in progress. It’s a cold garden, slow to get going in the spring as the bulk of it faces north east. Since we brought a number of plants with us from our previous garden, these plants were planted in, what was, a fairly blank canvas. A number of plants will move to more permanent positions as the garden develops.

The garden features a mixed planting of flowers, vegetables and fruit. It also has a double pond, one part reserved for fish and the other for aquatic life. We try to garden for nature, use no pesticides and enjoy the butterflies and insects we attract. We know we are fortunate as our nightly visitors include up to four hedgehogs.

The pond attracts bird life, predominately sparrows and blackbirds but we hope that as the garden matures, our planting should ensure a greater variety. On the whole it’s quiet and peaceful and a good place to sit watching the changes in the garden as the seasons progress.

The garden is unsuitable for wheelchairs and no dogs please.

Key features:

  • A work in progress
  • Double pond
