When we moved here in 2018 there were just a handful of plants in the garden, leaving us a blank canvas. After a few years of debating the design (whilst growing lots of sweet peas and tomatoes), we landscaped and planted the garden from scratch in late 2024/spring 2025. The beds wrap around the circular lawn and curved patios, surrounding us with plants.
The garden is south facing and bakes in the summer, but has pockets of shade in the corners and by the shed. This means we can enjoy sun loving Stipas, Geraniums, Salvias and Thyme, as well as lush ferns, Brunnera and Hellebores. The front garden has a similar range of conditions and is always looking it’s best in early summer.
We managed to fit seven trees into the garden, including trained fruit trees, a beautiful Cercis that we’d been nurturing in a pot for years, and a beloved dwarf Ginkgo. The garden is still evolving and maturing and we’ve made some mistakes along the way, but we’re excited by how quickly it has established.
Sally will have her wildlife art on display in the hand built garden shed, with originals and locally printed cards for sale.
